The No. 2 all-purpose back in the 2020 class won’t be dressing in orange and black next season.

Daniyel Ngata committed to Arizona State on Thursday night at the Under Armour All-American game. Ngata, a Californian, had Oklahoma State in his final list of schools, but the four-star tailback chose to stay closer to home and join Herm Edwards’ class.

Sources have told PFB’s Kyle Boone that OSU stopped recruiting Ngata in recent weeks, and given that Arizona State released a welcome video in the aftermath of his commitment, it’s evident that OSU has known for several weeks that it was not in the mix.

There is a lot up in the air still with OSU’s running back room. Doak Walker finalist Chuba Hubbard still hasn’t announced whether he plans to return to Stillwater for his redshirt junior season or go pro.

OSU has offers out for four-star Kevontre Bradford and junior college product Ladamian Webb.

Out of Lancaster, Texas, Bradford is the No. 136 player in the 2020 class and is ranked 14th among running backs. He is listed at 5-foot-11, 193 pounds.

Webb, listed at 5-8, 190 pounds, played in nine games in his freshman season at Jones County Junior College, where he ran for 940 yards and 10 touchdowns on 156 carries.
