LIVE BLOG: Oklahoma State Falls to TCU 38-13
Live updates from the Cowboys’ road game against the Horned Frogs.
FINAL: Oklahoma State 13, TCU 38
The Cowboys showed signs of life on offense on a couple of early drives, but each of those ended in turnovers which were turned into TCU touchdowns. That unfortunate turn, coupled with another hapless defensive outing, pretty much sentenced the Cowboys to a broken bowl streak and their first losing record since 2005.

Smith made some nice throws but got into trouble and had to take an official sack on an intentional grounding and the threw an ill-advised pass over the center of the field which was picked off.

It took almost 55 minutes of game time, but OSU finally let Maealiuaki Smith take a snap.

Drive Recap: OSU 13, TCU 38
The Frogs score on a 59-yard Jordyn Bailey run after a flag for holding was picked up, somewhat surprisingly. Weird game. Not sure the Cowboys had a big chance to come back, but any chance they did have just got stuff back into the official’s pocket.
Drive Recap: OSU 13, TCU 31
The Cowboys finish off that quirky drive with a Bowman-to-Stribling TD. The Pokes are down 18 with just under 14 minutes to go. Can they pull off any Cardiac Cowboys magic? Doubtful if they can’t figure out how to stop the ball.
END OF 3rd Quarter: Oklahoma State 6 | TCU 31
With his five-yard reception with 3:02 left in the third quarter, Brennan Presley became the fourth Cowboy in school history to reach 5,000 career all-purpose yards. Presley joins three CFB Hall of Famers in accomplishing the feat: Barry Sanders, Thurman Thomas and Terry Miller.

The Cowboys still can’t stop anything but they’re threatening to score again. So that is something. We’ve see Ollie Gordon play quarterback. We’ve seen Alan Bowman come back in and play quarterback, but we’ve not seen anyone that has the possibility to compete for QB reps.
Drive Recap: OSU 6, TCU 31
The Frogs answer with another TD drive. That’s four-straight touchdown drives. The only possession TCU didn’t score on was a missed 44-yard field goal attempt.
Drive Recap: OSU 6, TCU 24
The Cowboys get on the board on the second half’s opening drive but stub their toe on the two-point attempt.

OSU looked like a viable offense, and one that can gain a first down without coughing it up. Ollie Gordon capped an 11-play, 78-yard drive with a walk-in TD. The Pokes went for two but a would-be gimme to Brennan Presley was tipped at the line and fell incomplete. Still, the Cowboys are on the board. Now we’ll see if their defense can also show a little life.
HALFTIME: Oklahoma State 0, TCU 24
The Cowboys are getting whooped, again. At least they get the ball back (???). On their two drives that ended in punts, OSU had one first down. In the two drives in which the Cowboys were able to move the ball, they turned it over and allowed immediate TDs.
Drive Recap: OSU 0, TCU 24
JP Richardson continues making plays on his old team. This one was a 34-yard catch to the OSU 6, which set up a TD connection between Josh Hoover and Savion Williams.
Drive Recap: OSU 0, TCU 17
That drive was drug backward thanks to an offensive PI against De’Zhaun Stribling and the Pokes couldn’t overcome. Ollie Gordon went to the sideline hobbling with some type of lower leg issue.
Drive Recap: OSU 0, TCU 17
That’s two-straight touchdowns off of two-straight OSU turnovers. The worst part is that OSU was actually moving the chains on those two drives before coughing it up.
A touchdown catch was reversed upon review but the Frogs only needed two more tries to get into the end zone.
Drive Recap: OSU 0, TCU 10
Another seemingly productive offensive drive. Another turnover.
END OF 1st Quarter: Oklahoma State 0 | TCU 10
The Cowboys are back to moving the ball after giving up a TD on Ollie Gordon’s fumble. Pokes will being the second quarter first-and-10 from their own 37.
Drive Recap: OSU 0, TCU 10
The Horned Frogs take advantage of the turnover and take the momentum with a seven-play, 63-yard TD drive. Cam Cook caps it with an 18-yard rushing score.
Drive Recap: OSU 0, TCU 3
The Cowboys looked as good on that drive as they have in a some time. Ollie was cooking. Stribling had a nice play and was showing some fight. But as if on cue, Gordon loses the ball after a big run and TCU takes it back.
Drive Recap: OSU 0, TCU 3
Iman Oates come up with a big eight-yard sack that put TCU behind on that drive and the Cowboys are able to capitalize. TCU attempts a 44-yard kick but it goes wide right.
JP Richardson, has two catches for 16 and 14 yards early against his former team.
Drive Recap: OSU 0, TCU 3
Alan Bowman goes 0-for-2 and takes a bad sack for a loss of nine, and the Cowboys go three-and-out on their first try. After two possessions, TCU has outgained OSU 61 to -9.
Drive Recap: OSU 0, TCU 3
The Pokes’ defense holds the Horny Toads to 3 in the redzone.
The Cowboys win the toss, defer and give the Horned Frogs a chance to get on the board first.
Injury Report: The Cowboys will be shorthanded for their must-win road game.
Uni Reveal: The Pokes are going all-white for TCU.
In order to extend the longest active bowl streak in the FBS, Oklahoma State will have to do something it hasn’t done all year — defeat a Big 12 opponent. Actually, the Cowboys will need to beat three-straight Big 12 opponents but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
This hurdle should be big enough hurdle. The Frogs were one walk-off field goal away from being riding a three-game winning streak into this one. They’re one of a group of eight conference teams in a log jam of mediocrity all within two games of each other. Several rungs down the latter are the Pokes, holding down the league’s basement. Aside from the bowl streak, OSU needs to win just salvage some self-respect.
But the Frogs have plenty to fight for themselves. A win over OSU will guarantee TCU goes bowling for the first time in two years and only the second time in the last six.
