Mike Boynton High on What He’s Selling Recruits
During his postgame press conference on Tuesday night, Mike Boynton mentioned that Wednesday was a mandated day off of practice and that he would be spending the day recruiting.
On Wednesday morning he tweeted out this confirmation that he was indeed hot on the crootin’ trail as well as his confidence in his current team after the tough home loss to TCU.
This team has more to give, and they will. We will be never lower our standards. Most vital thing right now… RECRUITING! #ontheroadagain #LetsWork

As a followup question, Carson Cunningham asked Boynton about how recruiting had been going so far.
“We’ve been received really well,” Boynton said. “I’m encouraged by the type of people that are showing interest in us. I think people see the way we handle our players, the way we work with them, the positions we try to put them in to have success, and I think that people appreciate that.”
The Cowboys currently have two commits for the 2018 class in a pair of three-star front court players Yor Anei and Duncan Demuth. The Pokes are currently own the No. 83 class according to 247Sports and sit at 8th in the Big 12.
But it’s still early and Boynton, the admitted recruiting enthusiast, still has plenty of time to land a big fish or two before the final signing day on May 16.
More importantly, it appears that he’s pretty confident in what he’s selling to prospective future Cowboys. That’s probably at least half of the battle.
“We’re recruiting to a very highly respected program,” said Boynton. “People still, in a lot of parts of this country, respect Oklahoma State basketball and that’s something certainly that we go out and tell a story about. We want to try to get back to being consistently relevant on a national level.”
Sign me up! I, for one, am interested/excited to see what Boynton can do once he has a full recruiting class or two in the fold.
