NFL Draft: Ollie Gordon II Selected in Sixth Round by Miami Dolphins
Gordon slid all the way to the sixth but lands in South Beach.
The nation’s best running back a year ago fell to the sixth round.
Ollie Gordon is headed to South Beach. The former Doak Walker winner was taken 179th overall by the Miami Dolphins.
Gordon led the nation, rushing for 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns on his way to picking up that hardware in 2023, but a drop off in his numbers and the Cowboys’ offense apparently hurt his draft stock in 2025. He is the 17th running back drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Along with the Doak Walker, Gordon racked up a ton of accolades in 2023, including a Unanimous All-American bid, Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award and he finished seventh in Heisman voting.
As a senior, Gordon managed 880 yards and 13 scores on the ground. The Cowboys mustered just 112 yards per game last year. But at 6-foot=2 and 225 pounds, proven production and probably some untapped potential in the passing game, Gordon could end up an absolute steal for the Dolphins. He’ll compete among a RB room that also includes De’Von Achane and Jaylen Wright.
Gordon follows Nick Martin (third round to San Francisco) and Collin Oliver (fifth round to Green Bay) as the third Cowboy to be taken in the 2025 NFL Draft.
