Oklahoma State Down Two Prospects from Its 2026 Recruiting Class as Signing Day Draws Near
The signing period opens Wednesday.
The early signing period opens Wednesday, but with a coaching transition happening in Stillwater, some things are still moving around.
Oklahoma State lost a pair of commitments in its 2026 recruiting class on Sunday night when tight end Bryton Niu and offensive lineman Aiden Martin took to Twitter to announce they had reopened their recruitment.
Out of Lehi, Utah, Niu is the No. 1,776 player in the 247Sports Composite ranking for the class, making him the No. 98 tight end in the cycle. He caught 23 passes this season, according to MaxPreps, for 218 yards and a touchdown.
OSU had Niu’s brother, Jett, committed last cycle before Jett flipped to Bedlam rival OU on signing day.
Bryton had also announced offers to Arizona, Cal, Utah, Minnesota, Colorado State and others.
Out of Berryhill, Martin decommitted from OSU following Mike Gundy’s firing but had recommitted at the beginning of November. Now after Eric Morris’ hiring last week, he is back out of the fold.
Martin is the No. 768 prospect in the class, per the 247Sports Composite ranking, which tabs him as the No. 11 player in the state of Oklahoma. He also held offers to Washington State, Arkansas, Kansas State, Baylor, Texas Tech and others.
So as things stand, OSU’s class is down to six ahead of Wednesday’s signing day: Braeden Presley (DB), Landon Bland (Edge), Maliek Bracy (DB), Carter Langenderfer (DB), Julius Wilson (WR) and Sunia Vuki (OL).
Shortly after news broke that Morris was taking the job in Stillwater, four-star linebacker Carson Crawford announced that he had received an OSU offer after speaking with Morris. Crawford has been committed to Colorado since July.
There could be a couple more twists and turns for the Cowboys’ class heading into, and even on, Wednesday. With Morris essentially working two jobs in that he’s staying with North Texas to close out the Mean Green’s season, you get the feeling that a lot of his first roster will be built through the transfer portal when that window opens Jan. 2.
