Oklahoma State Offers 4-Star WR Marquez Beason
Oklahoma State has extended an offer to top-100 Class of 2019 wide receiver Marquez Beason of Bishop Dunne High School in Dallas, Texas.
Beason, a four-star, 5-11 speedster, is ranked as the No. 54 player in his class and the No. 9 player in the state of Texas. It’s his 44th (!) scholarship offer, according to 247Sports, and OSU joins the likes of LSU, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon and others.
The OSU offer comes at an interesting time, too. Less than a week ago, Beason named a top four of Ohio State, Illinois, A&M and LSU, but it apparently didn’t stop OSU from pursuing the highly-coveted prospect.
Worth noting here that OSU has found success recruiting the area, most notably Darrion Daniels, who came from Dallas’ Bishop Dunne and spurned a handful of other high major offers to come to OSU.
Beason is a do-it-all athlete who Dunne used as both a runner and receiver. Last season, he compiled 350 rushing yards on 42 attempts and 581 receiving yards on 40 catches, scoring 12 total touchdowns in the process.
Despite Beason’s top four, it will be interesting to see if OSU can pry its way into the recruitment late. If four-star QB Grant Gunnell makes a pledge anytime soon to OSU, it will absolutely sway star power in favor of OSU. Although right now, while OSU is the favorite, Gunnell still hasn’t indicated when he intends to commit after backing away from his Texas A&M pledge recently.
