The Cowboys got off to a bit of a slow start in the 2021 cycle, but they’ve had a good stretch here as of late on the recruiting trail and a particularly big day today.

With Bryson Green, Blaine Green and Cam Smith all committing to Oklahoma State on Wednesday, that bumps Mike Gundy’s 2021 class up to No. 35 in the national rankings and up two spots to No. 6 in the Big 12 standings.

There is still a lot of realistic room for OSU to grow into, as well. An Aden Kelley commitment, for example, would move OSU up five spots in the national rankings and two spots in the Big 12 rankings.

Smith, the latest to commit, was the 10th player to pledge to the Pokes. Oklahoma is the only Big 12 program ahead of OSU in the rankings with fewer commitments. In fact, OSU is ranked fifth in the country among programs with 10 or fewer commits.

OSU is still sixth in the Big 12 in average player ranking.

Team No. of Commits Player Average
Texas 11 91.46
Oklahoma 8 91.22
West Virginia 11 87.69
Texas Tech 8 86.92
Kansas State 7 86.72
Oklahoma State 10 86.68
Baylor 15 86.26
Kansas 11 84.36
Iowa State 14 84.33
TCU 4 61.74

Bryson Green is the highest rated commit for OSU right now with and a 247Sports composite four-star prospect.

Blaine Green’s .8895 rating narrowly edges out Edmond-Santa Fe standout Collin Oliver’s .8891 in the currently rankings, making Blaine OSU’s No. 2 prospect in the class thus far.

The Greens, Oliver and Muskogee safety Ty Williams are all in the top 500 of the 2021 class at this point. In OSU’s 2020 class only quarterback Shane Illingworth finished as a top 500 guy.

There is still work to be done. As of right now, OSU doesn’t have a commit labeled as an offensive or defensive lineman (though Oliver might put his hand down some off the edge). But with some more good offers still out there, what started out slowly for Gundy’s 2021 class could turn into a really solid group.
