Oklahoma State began its season unranked but officially finished it as a top-10 team Tuesday after the AP released its final poll of the season on the heels of the national championship game. The Cowboys came in at No. 7 in the final ranking, two spots behind Baylor and three ahead of OU, making them the second-highest ranked Big 12 team.

Those were the only three teams from the Big 12 to earn inclusion in the final poll.

OSU was ranked as high as No. 5 in the AP poll this season. After it entered the rankings in Week 5 at No. 19, it never fell lower than No. 15.

In no surprise, OSU’s 12-2 season netted OSU the No. 7 ranking in the final AP poll which marks the highest ranking for the program in the final poll since — you guessed it! — 2011. That year OSU finished No. 3. It marks the eighth time OSU has been ranked in the final AP poll under Mike Gundy and the third time it has finished inside the top 10.
