Cam Smith’s recruitment process is starting to pick up, and Oklahoma State is among the first few Power Five programs in on him.

Smith, a 2021 three-star athlete from Denton, announced and OSU offer this weekend. The Cowboys are just the fourth Power Five program to offer him, joining Kansas State, Northwestern and Vanderbilt.

Listed as an athlete, Smith mentioned OSU corners coach Tim Duffie and safeties coach Dan Hammerschmidt in his post, meaning OSU is likely after him as some sort of defensive player. Versatility is always a push, but it seems like it particularly flourishes in defensive coordinator Jim Knowles’ system.

Smith does it all for Braswell High School, whether that be wide receiver, corner, and as a punt returner.

His versatility doesn’t stop on the football field either, as Smith also competes in track and field in the 200 meters, long jump, triple jump and in relays.

Smith was a first-team all-district selection at corner and receiver in his junior season. At receiver, he caught 76 passes for 1,259 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2019.

Although OSU has been a tad slow out of the blocks in the 2021 cycle, both of the Pokes’ 2021 commitments have been on the defensive side of the ball: outside linebacker Kolbe Fields and safety Ty Williams.

OSU has offers out for seven corners, nine safeties (including Williams) and four players listed as athletes.
