OSU Offers Putnam City West Point Guard Rondel Walker
Oklahoma State has extended an offer to in-state point guard Rondel Walker, he announced this week. Walker is a rising 2020 talent from Putnam City West.
The 6-foot-1 floor general from OKC is one of the first offers for Mike Boynton in the 2020 class, and represents a shift in the new staff’s approach to recruiting within the state.
“First place we want to recruit is in-state,” Boynton said in a recent interview with Evan Daniels. “We want the best players in the state of Oklahoma to be Cowboys. Every year, if there’s a kid good enough to play in the Big 12 to help us win a Big 12 championship, we want them to wear orange and black.”
Walker was one of only three freshman to play on varsity for Putnam City West last season, and he gave them an added level of versatility as both a ball-handler and off-ball scorer. He’s a combo guard who can fill it up in a hurry.
OSU is Walker’s first major college offer that came one day after OBU extended a scholarship to him, but don’t expect that to stay the same for long. The Cowboys are the first in what is likely to be a long line of suitors for the scoring machine from Putnam City West.
