OSU Recruiting: Rondel Walker Sets Commitment Date
Walker is set to pick a school on Halloween.
The first piece of Mike Boynton’s 2020 recruiting class could soon be in place.
Rondel Walker announced via his Instagram that he will pick a school Oct. 31. His final five are Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Texas, Kansas State and Virginia Tech. His commitment will come from Putnam City West’s gym shortly after the Patriots’ blue and gold game.
A four-star recruit, Walker is the 90th-ranked player in the 2020 class. His status shot up over his summer with his AAU squad Texas Titans.
Walker started the year ranked 192nd in his class. He averaged 14.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and four assists a game at the Peach Jam this summer, an event the Titans won. Walker also shot 45 percent from 3 at the event.
Walker is the No. 2 prospect in Oklahoma, trailing only Bryce Thompson.
He is AAU teammates with Cade Cunningham, the No. 2 prospect in the 2020 class. Walker, Cunningham and Mike Miles, all Texas Titans with OSU offers, took official visits to Stillwater together in early September.
Boynton doesn’t have anyone in his 2020 class at this time after Davonte Davis de-committed Oct. 1.
Jerry Meyer, 247Sports’ director of basketball scouting, submitted a crystal ball prediction for Walker to end up a Cowboy on Sept. 30.
