OSU Wrestling: Stanford Transfer 174-Pounder Lorenzo Norman Commits to Oklahoma State
Norman was a national qualifier as a redshirt freshman and has some solid wins on his resume.
Norman is coming to Stillwater — Lorenzo Norman, that is.
A Stanford transfer, Norman announced his commitment to be a Cowboy on Thursday. He missed just about all of this past season with injury but was a national qualifier at 174 pounds as a redshirt freshman during the 2024-25 season. He went 21-6 that year and was the 18 seed at nationals.

Norman becomes David Taylor’s second portal pickup of the offseason, joining former South Dakota State All-American Bennett Berge.
Norman wrestled just twice this past season, splitting those December matches. The loss was to Levi Haines, who went on to win his second national title. Haines won that match via a 14-4 major decision. Norman beat North Dakota State’s Tyler Secoy via a first-period pin.
Norman was really good that redshirt freshman year, starting the season 18-1 with his lone loss coming to OSU’s Dean Hamiti by a point at Cliff Keen. Hamiti would go on to win a national title that season. Norman earned the 2 seed at the ACC Championships, where he dropped his semifinal bout in sudden-victory. He then went 1-2 at nationals.
He went 9-7 while redshirting in 2023-24. He had an impressive win against Shane Griffith that season. Griffith would go on to take third at NCAAs that year and finished his college career as a four-time All-American and one-time national champ.
The Cowboys’ 174-pound spot seems to be open to competition this upcoming season. Alex Facundo manned the spot last year and returns. He went 18-8 in his first year as a Cowboy, earning the 8 seed at nationals before going 2-2. And the depth doesn’t necessarily stop there. Should Zack Ryder be healthy by the time the season rolls around, he could potentially compete for that spot, as could Kody Routledge, who is coming off a strong redshirt season at 165 pounds.
