OU Nabs Commitment From Top OSU Offensive Line Target Marcus Alexander

Oklahoma State was the prohibitive favorite to land Class of 2019 offensive lineman Marcus Alexander following a February scholarship offer and a solid unofficial visit for the spring game in April.

In the aftermath of the visit to Stillwater, five 247Sports experts pegged Alexander to be OSU-bound and his commitment seemed imminent.

That was before OU, in need of help on the interior of its offensive line, extended an offer to him in late-May and rocked his process to its core.

Alexander wasted no time with a decision and announced Tuesday that he will play for the Sooners in college, committing to Lincoln Riley’s program over OSU, Missouri and a slew of other programs.

It’s a gut punch for an OSU program that, despite hauling in a five-offensive linemen recruiting class in 2018, is still looking to bolster its stack of big boys up front under Josh Henson.

The Cowboys have yet to land an offensive linemen for the 2019 cycle and with Alexander off the board, it’s back to the drawing board for OSU.

Meanwhile, 2019 offensive center Drake Nugent and his Coloradoan teammate, Colorado commit Austin Johnson, made a visit to OSU over the weekend. If Henson can sway the teammates to play together at the next level, offensive line help may soon be on the way for the Cowboys after getting backdoored by their rival on Tuesday in Alexander’s recruitment.
