Report: Former North Texas Running Back Ayo Adeyi Schedules Oklahoma State Visit
Adeyi’s best college season came under Morris.
Ayo Adeyi was a 1,000-yard rusher for Eric Morris a few seasons ago, and now he’ll take a visit to see his former coach in Stillwater, according to 247Sports, with the visit scheduled for Saturday.
Adeyi has spent the past two seasons at JMU, running for 160 yards on 44 carries in his time with the Dukes. Adeyi was at North Texas from 2021 (before Morris) until 2023 (Morris’ first season in Denton).
That year with Morris was Adeyi’s best in his college career, as he ran for 1,017 yards and six touchdowns on 143 carries. His 7.1 yards per carry was a conference-best. He was a Second Team All-American Athletic Conference selection.
Adeyi’s college career started at Division-II Harding in 2020, but D-II didn’t play in 2020 because of the pandemic. He would then spend the next three seasons at North Texas. He played in 34 games with the Mean Green, running for 2,320 yards and 16 touchdowns in that time.
Along with the Morris connection, it should also be noted that OSU hired UNT running backs coach Patrick Cobbs. Cobbs had been coaching the Mean Green running backs since 2019, meaning he was there for Adeyi’s entire North Texas tenure.
Adeyi started JMU’s first two games of the 2024 season but an injury ended his year there, and he received a medical redshirt. He then played in six games in 2025 with JMU. Only four of those games came in the regular season, meaning he maintained his still-available redshirt, giving him one more year to play.
Listed at 5-foot-7, 199 pounds, Adeyi hails from Mansfield Legacy High School in Mansfield, Texas. According to MaxPreps, he ran for 1,227 yards and eight touchdowns in his senior season.
Three OSU running backs have announced intentions to hit the portal this offseason in Sesi Vailahi, Kalib Hicks and Jaden Allen-Hendrix. Meanwhile Trent Howland and Freddie Brock finished out their eligibility.
