Report: Mike Yurcich ‘Leading Candidate’ for Texas’ Offensive Coordinator Vacancy
Could Mike Yurcich be coaching against the Cowboys in 2020?
This could get interesting.
Former Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich is the leading candidate to fill Tom Herman’s OC vacancy at Texas, according to Stadium’s Brett McMurphy.
Ohio State passing game coordinator Mike Yurcich is leading candidate to become new OC at Texas, sources told @Stadium. If Yurcich is hired at Texas, he would remain with Buckeyes thru @CFBPlayoff. Minnesota OC Kirk Ciarrocca also possibility for UT OC job, source said

Yurcich was Mike Gundy’s offensive coordinator in Stillwater from 2013 to 2018. Yurcich was quite the polarizing figure in Stillwater, despite his OSU offenses always finishing among the best in the country.
In his six seasons in Stillwater, OSU averaged 38 points and 478.3 yards per game. OSU has scored 38 points only three times this year, all coming in the Cowboys’ nonconference games.
Yurcich then went back home to Ohio, where he was the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the College Football Playoff-bound Buckeyes. Ohio State’s Heisman finalist quarterback Justin Fields has completed 68 percent of his passes for 2,953 yards, 40 touchdowns and just one interception as a sophomore.
Tom Herman blew up his staff in Austin after the Longhorns went 7-5 with junior quarterback Sam Ehlinger.
Texas fired defensive coordinator Todd Orlando and demoted offensive coordinator Tim Beck to the team’s quarterbacks coach.
Yurcich is making $950,000 this year at Ohio State, according to USA Today‘s database. That makes him the 31st-highest paid assistant in the country. Texas could definitely top that, as Orlando (the fired defensive coordinator) made $1.7 million this year, making him the sixth-highest paid assistant in the country.
