Report: Oklahoma State Adds Coastal Carolina Starting Tackle
OSU adds another O-lineman.
STILLWATER — Oklahoma State isn’t done shoring up the protection around quarterback Drew Mestemaker.
On Thursday, 247Sports’ McClain Baxley reported that Coastal Carolina lineman Joseph Hanson was joining the Cowboys. He should have one season of eligibility remaining, plus a redshirt year, should he need it.
Hanson earned All-Sun Belt honorable mention honors for his performance in 2025. Hanson started 10 games at right tackle in 2025. Pro Football Focus credits him with giving up only three sacks in 572 snaps. He started two games as a sophomore in 2024 and once (at left tackle) during his freshman season.
Across his three-year career, Hanson played 1,083 snaps on offense. He’s seen time at both tackle positions, but the vast majority of his game experience comes on the right side of the line.
On3 and 247Sports, respectively, rank him as the 71st and 90th tackle in the transfer portal.
The 6-5, 300-pound lineman played high school ball for Niceville (Florida), which rushed for 2,000-plus yards in back-to-back seasons during his junior and senior years. He initially chose Coastal Carolina over a number of reported offers including Kansas, Air Force and Navy.
Hanson is the sixth offensive lineman to commit to OSU since the portal opened on Friday joining former Sooner Jacob Sexton, a slew of North Texas transfers Desmond Magiya, Braydon Nelson and Johnny Dickson, as well as Kansas transfer Tyler Mercer, who was at UNT before KU.
