The Reload: Oklahoma State Offers Two Monstrous Offensive Tackle Prospects

Published

on

It was a busy week for Oklahoma State on the recruiting trail, and especially so for offensive line coach Josh Henson. Let’s take a look at the latest news and offers.

Offensive line a major priority

Oklahoma State has been recruiting 2019 offensive tackle Preston Wilson for months, and finally made it official this week by extending him an offer. Wilson is a 6-foot-4, 274-pound tackle from Argyle, Texas rated as a three-star prospect.

He has offers from 27 schools, including Texas Tech, Arizona State, Baylor and a slew of others, but this offer signals that OSU means business with him. And when Henson means business, all bets are off.

Henson also made a 2020 offensive tackle this week to Colorado prospect Andrew Gentry. Gentry is a 6-foot-8 (!!!), 290-pound four-star recruit. He already has amassed from 15 offers from the likes of Arkansas, Ole Miss, Colorado, Cal, Nebraska and a slew of others.

New defensive offers in 2020

The Cowboys made two new offers to two defensive prospects in the 2020 class this week, too. The first went to Crockett (Texas) defensive end Allen Horace. Horace is a 6-foot-5, 218-pound pass-rusher whose only offer, outside of OSU, is Baylor.

The second offer this week on the defensive side of the ball went to 2020 cornerback Xavion Alford out of Shadow Creek in Pearland, Texas. OSU was his second offer, and since, three other teams — Utah, Boston College and Houston — have joined in by offering him this week.

Alford is a 6-1, 175-pound recruit who has really good ball skills and covers a ton of space in the secondary. He plays a lot like Jordan Sterns did: diagnoses plays extremely well, and gets downhill in a hurry when he makes the read.

Another option at safety?

Oklahoma State offered 2019 athlete Peyton Powell out of Odessa, Texas, on Thursday. Powell is a two-way player in high school, but OSU’s offering is at safety, despite amassing nearly 3,000 yards passing more than 2,600 yards rushing in his previous two high school seasons.

Powell has offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Ohio State, Texas Tech and a handful of other high major schools.
