The Reload: OSU Offers Younger Brother of OSU Linebacker Devin Harper

Scholarship offers are seemingly coming in by the hour in the wake of OSU’s football camp that took place this weekend in Stillwater.

The Cowboys made a headline offer this weekend to 2019 QB prospect Brendan Costello, the most notable of the latest offers, but there are plenty of others worth noting. Here’s a roundup of the latest that have been reported.

Thomas Harper: Harper, a 2019 athlete from Karns, Tennessee, is the younger brother of OSU linebacker Devin Harper. Rated as a two-star prospect, Harper has offers from Austin Peay, Chattanooga, Eastern Kentucky, Navy, Southern Illinois and UT-Martin.

Harper had more than 1,000 yards receiving last season, but I suspect he could be a potential defensive addition either as a safety or cornerback. At 5-11, 165-pounds, his slightly lacking frame is accentuated by his impressive speed and burst that should allow him to compete with premium athletes at the next level.

Jonathan McGill: Another dualing offensive/defensive threat, Coppell’s Jonathan McGill, former teammate of 2018 signee Gabe Lemons, announced an OSU offer. McGill is a safety/receiver hybrid who has been offered as a safety. He has 21 scholarship offers in addition to OSU, namely Stanford, Texas Tech, Purdue, Washington State and Cal. He’s listed at 5-9, 175-pounds and is a 2019 prospect.

Blayne Toll: Hazen, Arkansas product Blayne Toll — yes, another non-specialized prospect labeled as an “athlete” — announced OSU has offered him. Toll is listed as a Class of 2020 QB/ATH/DE/TE by 247Sports, and at 6-5, 235-pounds, it’s believed he’s being recruited as a Cowboy Back, but has the talent to play DE. Toll also has offers from Memphis, Carroll College, Rutgers and Southern Miss.

Xavier Player: Oklahoma State is dipping back into Texas where it has offered 2019 cornerback prospect Xavier Player out of Steele in Cibolo, Texas. Player is the former teammate of OSU 2018 signee JayVeon Cardwell. At 6 foot, 170 pounds, Player has garnered more than 20 scholarship offers, but OSU is his biggest to date and first Big 12 offer.
