The Cowboys got a late-night commitment Monday with the early signing period fast approaching.

Rashod Owens, a three-star athlete out of San Antonio, pledged to Oklahoma State about a week after the Cowboys offered him a scholarship. At 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Owens likely projects as a receiver at OSU, but 247 lists him as the No. 63 athlete in the 2020 class.

His athletic abilities don’t stop on the football field. Owens is a decorated triple jumper. He also qualified for state in the long jump last spring in Texas.

OSU offered Owens on Dec. 10. Before that he had offers from the likes of Kansas, Colorado State, Georgia Southern and others.

Owens lined up everywhere at Roosevelt High School: running back, in the slot, out wide and he even took some snaps out of the wildcat formation.

Owens is OSU’s 18th commitment of the class, and he moves OSU’s 2020 class to No. 5 in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma, Texas, TCU and Iowa State. The Cowboys’ class is ranked 41st nationally, but that can still be improved with the seven scholarships Mike Gundy’s staff has remaining.

Division I football’s early signing period starts Wednesday and lasts through Friday. The regular signing period starts Feb. 5 and goes until April 1.
