Todd McShay Projects Ogbah at No. 30
Heading into the combine this week, it was widely believed Ogbah projected as a late first – early second round pick with a chance to improve his stock at the NFL combine in Indianapolis.
Ogbah certainly showed out at the combine this week, flashing an incredible 4.63 40-yard dash and other dazzling numbers across the board. Despite his impressive showing, analysts are still skeptical about the reigning Big 12 defensive player of the year. Todd McShay, an NFL analyst who creates mock drafts, currently projects Ogbah going No. 30 to the Carolina Panthers.
From ESPN:
The Panthers will be in the market for more depth at cornerback, so you’d have to think William Jackson III and Kendall Fuller would be in the mix here too. And while Ogbah had a terrific combine, his motor runs hot and cold on tape, which is a concern. When he decides to cut loose as a pass-rusher, he has an outstanding combination of length, quickness and power.
So yeah. If there was a “winner” of the combine, Ogbah was arguably a top five finisher among defensive linemen finishing second in the 40 and vertical, and third in broad jump. Yet McShay has him going off the board as the tenth defensive lineman in the draft. Maybe it’ll only fuel Ogbah to prove his doubters wrong about his questionable motor and “hot and cold” tape.
