2018 Shooting Guard Alan Griffin Makes Unofficial Visit to Oklahoma State

Days after hosting 2018 four-star center David McCormack for an unofficial visit in Stillwater, head coach Mike Boynton was back at it again on Wednesday hosting another 2018 prospect in shooting guard Alan Griffin.

Griffin is a White Plains, New York resident currently playing for the NY Rens on the AAU circuit. While he’s not ranked by recruiting services, the 6-foot-5 guard has garnered offers from St. Louis (Travis Ford!), Hofstra, Fordham, Manhattan and UMass.

Making an unofficial visit to Stillwater is quite a hefty price tag for a player from New York — unofficial visits are paid by the player or their family, after all — but as it turns out Griffin has a connection in Oklahoma. His father, Adrian Griffin, is an assistant coach on Billy Donovan’s OKC Thunder staff. The elder Griffin has spent time in the NBA as an assistant in Orlando, Chicago and Milwaukee.

Alan Griffin averaged 7.1 points per game for the Rens this spring on the circuit, according to the teams website. While he did not report a scholarship offer, Griffin could be an intriguing target down the road for Boynton if he chooses to take a flyer on the New York-area prospect.
