The Cowboys’ first commit for the 2026 class is now headed to the Big Ten.

Jaylen Stewart, a three-star edge rusher from Pearland, Texas, has flipped his commitment from Oklahoma State to Illinois following an in-person visit to Champaign. Stewart visited Stillwater in April.

Stewart was the Cowboys’ first commitment of the 2026 cycle, pledging to OSU in February. He picked Oklahoma State over over offers from Baylor, Auburn, Arizona State, SMU and others.

Stewart is currently a three-star prospect and the No. 75 edge rusher in the class, according to 247Sports.

The loss brings OSU’s class down to 12 commits and ranked 39th in 247’s team rankings, as of writing. The Cowboys have another edge rusher pledged in Carthage, Missouri product Landon Bland, ranked as the No. 66 edge prospect by 247Sports.
