The Cowboys moved quickly in securing a commitment from a quarterback from small-town Texas.

Kase Evans, a 6-foot-3, 198-pound QB from Lexington, Texas, announced on Sunday that he’ll be a Cowboy. He announced his OSU offer on May 21, not even three weeks before pledging to the Pokes.

He threw for 3,113 yards and 37 touchdowns to just seven interceptions as a high school junior and picked OSU over offers from Texas State, UTSA, Tulane and others. The major recruiting services don’t have Evans rated at this point.

Lexington is a town of about 1,300 people about an hour’s drive east of Austin. Evans led the Eagles to a 12-2 finish this past season and an appearance in the Texas 3A-D2 quarterfinals. He also competes in track and field. MileSplit has Evans tabbed with a 11.69 100-meter time and a 154-7 discus throw.

That smalltown aspect probably hasn’t helped Evans in the rankings, but his highlights sure are a lot of fun to watch.

So, the Cowboys have their 2026 quarterback. Evans makes it 13 in the Cowboys class in total — a class that ranks 27th nationally and fourth in the Big 12.
