Struggles in the Second Half
Head Cowboy Mike Boynton gave some details around what’s going wrong in the second half of Cowboy basketball games.
“I’ve tried to put my finger on it,” said head coach Mike Boynton. “We’re giving up way too many offensive rebounds in the second halves of games. One thing that really stands out are almost two times as many offensive rebounds are given up in the second half versus what we’re giving up in the first half.
But, I think Oklahoma had 20 offensive rebounds in the second half in the game here last Saturday and that was at home. So, it wasn’t like it was a home-road thing. We’re not playing as aggressively and most of the numbers indicate that it’s the defensive end. The other team’s 3-point percentages are much higher, we’re fouling more and teams are getting way too many easy baskets. [GoPokes $]
The piece outlined how the Pokes are currently 283rd in college basketball at defensive rebounds – hemorrhaging offensive rebounds leads to loads of easy buckets.
I don’t know if you get Big Mitch and Sima on a treadmill to build their legs for the second half but some variation of “Sutton breaking out the football pads” could be in line if the issue persists.
Super Seniors
Yet even more hyperbole has spilled out of southern Alabama where James Washington continues to turn heads at the Senior Bowl.
Well, Pro Football Focus’ (PFF) Josh Liskiewitz is scouting the Senior Bowl for his 10th consecutive year, and he says there are two elite receivers there like he’s never seen before.
“This year’s event could feature two of the top receivers taken off the board … as Colorado State’s Michael Gallup and Oklahoma State’s James Washington are … likely the two best senior receivers at the Senior Bowl in the last decade,” Liskiewitz wrote. [BaltimoreRavens.com]
While ESPN’s Mel Kiper doesn’t see Washington going in the top half of the first round, ProFootballFocus has him going 13th in their latest mock draft.

Another 2o point game from Carroll would be massive today.
? Since the last time we played Arkansas @J30Carroll has jumped to the top of the scouting report. But a year later, he's still a key to our success. #letswork #okstate pic.twitter.com/h3ywqX9mS6
