OSU Football Offers Mississippi State Baseball Commit Stone Blanton
Hey, look a multi-sport athlete.
Mike Gundy’s program celebrates multi-sport athletes, and Stone Blanton is just that.
Blanton, a Mississippi State baseball commit, announced an Oklahoma State football offer Tuesday. On the gridiron, Blanton is a 2022 inside linebacker prospect. He is out Madison, Mississippi by way of Madison-Ridgeland Academy.

Here is what we know about Blanton.
Who Is He?
As mentioned above, Blanton is a celebrated baseball and football player, but he is also a state champion high jumper.
He is listed at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds. He went to a national combine in early January where he recorded a 4.88 40-yard dash, a 4.29 shuttle, a 29-inch vertical, a 9-feet, 5-inch broad jump and had a 73-inch wing span.
As a baseball prospect, Blanton is an outfielder and right-handed pitcher. He throws an 82 mph fastball, according to Perfect Game. Perfect Game also graded him as an eight of 10. According to the outlets grading system, that pins him as a “potential draft pick and/or excellent college prospect.”
Others Involved
Blanton committed to the Mississippi State baseball program on Jan. 23, but since, football offers have rolled in.
Blanton has offers to play football from Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Baylor, Oregon, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Duke, Virginia and Louisville, with OSU being his latest offer as of this writing.
In the Rankings
He isn’t yet ranked as a football prospect, but with his offer list that’s sure to change soon. He just finished his sophomore year of high school.
Nolan McLean Model?
It’s possible Blanton could play football and baseball at the college level, whether that be at Mississippi State, Oklahoma State or anywhere else.
In the 2020 class, OSU got Nolan McLean as a football/baseball signee. McLean was thought to be a high draft pick in this year’s MLB Draft (he throws a 94 mph fastball). MLB.com listed McLean as the No. 66 prospect for the draft, but he wasn’t taken in the COVID-19-shortened five-round draft.
All that is to say, McLean will be in Stillwater this school year and could provide Blanton with a road map of what it would be like to play both the sports at OSU.
