• Drew Mestemaker is on the quarterback of the year watchlist, joining his running backs and receivers on their respective lists (PFB)

• Deep in an article talking about Art Briles’ return to coaching was this nugget from Mike Holder raving about the hire.  Also, it’s an old OSU compliance person who’s the athletic director at the school who hired Briles.

Immediately after the hire, (athletic director Kevin) Fite received a text from his old boss, former Oklahoma State athletic director Mike Holder: “Congratulations. Finally, an AD with the cojones to hire Art. Great coach and your team will win!” [On3]

• National writers keep talking about what Eric Morris and his team did to build a roster- and how wild it was (247 Sports)

• Loved seeing what The Athletic‘s Stewart Mandel had to say about the Pokes here – after projecting them to go 7-5:

(Eric Morris will) get the Cowboys back to a bowl. [The Athletic]
