BleacherReport has Mason Rudolph as CFB’s 16th best player – accrediting his best attribute for the positioning.

Best attribute: Perhaps the most common criticism of college quarterbacks in spread systems is they’re “one-read-and-panic” throwers. Rudolph, however, has demonstrated a clear ability to scan the field and go through a progression all while avoiding mistakes. [BleacherReport]

The way Rudolph finds the open guy with his progressions is so much fun to watch – without that skill I think Washington and Ateman are already in the league.

An Old Soul

The Tulsa World caught up with former Cowboy QB JW Walsh and his life as an assistant coach in FCS football – and his first head coach is impressed.

(Abilene Christian head coach Adam) Dorrel said he and his wife spent two or three hours with Walsh and came away impressed, especially given his age.

He had no qualms about the youngest full-time hire he’s ever made.

“Sometimes it almost feels like you’re talking to your grandpa or something,” Dorrel said. “He’s very mature for his age. He’s got great views on not just football, but life.” [TulsaWorld]

Grandpa Walsh! We can look forward to some great fishing stories when he returns to Gundy’s staff in five years.

OSU and NCAA Notes

An inspiring story about a Cowboy walk on for the 2017 season …..Yahoo has Gundy as a top ten CFB coach…..Good primer about what to know around college football this season….CFB coaches bound for a promotion next year – Cowboys will face one of the best next week

Just move the league offices to Guthrie.

OSU, OU and Texas are the only B12 schools on this list – all SEC teams play an FCS squad.

No. 4 is insane – must be counting the Iowa wrestling match, right?

Cowboy fans walking through office doors next Thursday:
