New/Old Friends
While it’s all over with now – it had been so long since Oklahoma State has even considered another football coach. But here are some reasonable thoughts on two you may have hypothetically considered – Mike Leach and Les Miles.
Leach is hard to deal with from an administration standpoint. I don’t know if OSU needs that. They’ve got that with Gundy. Miles is 64 and runs an offense 100 percent opposite of what has made OSU great. [NewsOK]
Leach would have provided so much publicity for the program (and offensive continuity) but understandable to avoid for those making decisions.
Miles may have a hard time finding anything other than someone looking for a quick fix. Could you imagine 70-year old Les Miles’ press conferences?
Toast of the League
Is Marcus Smart poised to be the next Oklahoma State-trained defensive stopper in the NBA?
Smart does not possess the most graceful set of skills, but what he provides is unmistakable to anyone watching. He’s all over the floor, hounding ball handlers, bodying up on bigger players in the post and bumping cutting players he isn’t even guarding, like a middle linebacker jamming a slot receiver. [538]
Can you imagine what Eddie could have molded Smart into?

Go ahead and give us the Sugar Bowl while you’re at it. And make Hugh Freeze admit the Cowboys would have won had it not been for his sorry, cheating tail.

“I’m not into coaching a bunch of ***holes” is probably the difference in a ten and twelve win season, no?
From Gundy interview, without question my favorite line. https://t.co/pjJVf4eLWh pic.twitter.com/ECQDzMzR5I
