Transformation Complete
Jeff Carroll slumped but the Pokes hung tough – a new team is here.
Jeffrey Carroll, who came off the bench for the sixth consecutive game since his reinstatement, produced just three points on 1-of-9 shooting and four fouls in 17 minutes.
Two of the fouls were mirror images in the first half. Carroll attempted to drive and Shamet knew his tendencies and drew offensive fouls. The three points were the fewest for Carroll since his sophomore year.
Without his production, the Cowboys stuck to Boynton’s principles. They played tireless, maddening defense, taking Wichita State out of its offense.
For an 11-minute stretch — from the 16:48 mark of the first half to 5:48 — the Shockers mustered one field goal and 10 turnovers. [Tulsa World]
From college basketball’s premier offense to a unit willing to grind to make it a game – it’s defense-first Cowboy basketball.
And it’s hard not to like.

Most Charismatic
ESPN ranked the Pokes high (No. 5) in their most entertaining teams’ list. An apt descriptor when you survey the 2017 season!
They had arguably the best quarterback-receiver duo, in Mason Rudolph and James Washington, and, oh, that beautiful flowing hair! Mike Gundy’s mullet delivered every single week, but a 62-52 loss to Oklahoma in a thrilling game knocked the Pokes out of the playoff picture in early November.
But let’s consider that that game still featured 114 points, 1,446 yards and 62 first downs. Oklahoma State averaged 41 points in its three losses. [ESPN]
Fun (to watch) even in defeat – it’s hard to comprehend how entertaining OSU football is relative to the field.

Texas poached TCU’s AD for a pretty penny – I’d be more impressed if they got Patterson.
A couple of details on Del Conte: can confirm that women's AD Chris Plonsky will report to him. Del Conte contract will be 7 years starting at $1.3 million #hookem
