Rashaun Washington
As James Washington closes in on Rashaun Woods’ career yardage record at Oklahoma State, the personality and interest overlap is strong.
Washington is a farm and ranch management major, which includes some challenging business and science classes, but because of his commitment to his academics, he’ll have a light workload next spring when he’s preparing for the NFL Draft.
By taking 17 hours this fall, he’ll have only three courses remaining, and two of them will be online.
“I’d rather take a bunch now,” he said. I’ll be taking nine hours in the spring so I can have time to train.” [NewsOK]
Primarily the farm and ranch management gels with Rashaun the fisherman but the strong silent type plays well at Oklahoma State. Is there a more West Texas major?
Must be an All-American kind of thing.

Gloom and Doom
The Big 12 flavor to last night’s award shows certainly imply this reality – the Big 12 isn’t dead (yet).
No other conference claims the best player in college football. Baker Mayfield is about to give the Big 12 its first Heisman Trophy winner since Robert Griffin III in 2011. The Sooners will get the biggest bounce off Mayfield’s Heisman tour, but their league will feel it as well.
The Big 12 benefits from Mark Andrews’ Mackey Award, an honor the OU tight end claimed Wednesday. It benefits from Mason Rudolph’s Unitas Award, a prize the Oklahoma State quarterback bagged last week.
It is sure to benefit Thursday night, when Mayfield competes for the Maxwell and teammate Orlando Brown competes for the Outland; when Mayfield or Rudolph wins the Davey O’Brien; when OSU’s James Washington likely wins the Biletnikoff over West Virginia’s David Sills; and when Texas’ DeShon Elliott and Michael Dickson vie for the Jim Thorpe and Ray Guy.[TulsaWorld]
The league is a far cry from a gimmicky relevance and it’s likely the bowl season will continue to prove that truth.

h/t to Southwell for finding this gem of Barry toasting the Bucs.
How dominant was @BarrySanders against the Bucs?
In 20 career games: 2,653 yards from scrimmage + 16 TDs.
