April Fools

Anybody feeling confident about how quarterbacks will go in the NFL Draft is fooling themselves.

At least four passers — USC’s Sam Darnold, UCLA’s Josh Rosen, Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield, and Wyoming’s Josh Allen — are expected to be selected in the first round, and it’s not hard to imagine a scenario in which five or six (adding in Louisville’s Lamar Jackson, Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph, and Washington State’s Luke Falk) come off the board in the opening round.

The fun part about this quarterback class, though, isn’t just the depth of talent it boasts, it’s that there’s nothing close to a consensus on the order in which these quarterbacks should be ranked. [The Ringer]

There’s too little difference/projected value between the throwers this year – try comparing the consistency/winning record of players like Baker Mayfield and Mason Rudolph compared against the potential and flashes of a Sam Darnold or Josh Allen.

Vested Interest

In what will be the only uni take/nearly any take concerning the wrestling program, John Smith is elite… at wearing vests.

Through the years, there have been many college coaches to wear vests. And some have, on occasion, admittedly worn vests better than Coach Smith. But no one can match Smith’s commitment and dedication to the vest. His investment in vests has no equal.

Like his patented single-leg offense, Smith has taken something specific but common, perfected it, and then made it completely his own. And like the nearly infinite variations to the low-leg attack, Smith can vary the verve and vim of his vesting in subtle but profound ways, always in total harmony with his environment and never with any discernible effort. The article has loads of pics over the years – the man integrates the vest seamlessly. Carson gives the Smith vest a shout out in the latest pod, we need to get Chris’ to carry a John Smith signature vest each year.

Looks like Lindy is a go today.

Pokes where they should be.

You get Ateman with an Olympic sprinter, maybe throw in a high jumper, and you’re building one heck of a football player.

Seems like a clever idea to get people in – doesn’t seem like it’d be needed playing a top-ten team though.
