Rudolph and Co. Revisited
With the 2018 signing day in the books, The Athletic took another look at the 2014 recruiting class – and OSU’s looks a lot better.
17. Oklahoma State
Adjusted average: 2.63Hit rate: 59%
Class rank in 2014: 27th
Four-year record: 37-15
Top signees: QB Mason Rudolph, WR James Washington, WR Tyreek Hill, DE Cole Walterscheid, DB Ramon Richards
Rudolph and Washington leave as two of Oklahoma State’s all-time greats. It’s difficult to know how to evaluate Hill here. The future Pro Bowler goes in the “miss” category here because of his arrest and dismissal, but his single-season performance in 2014 still made him one of the Cowboys’ most impactful signees. [The Athletic]
Those triplets are absolutely insane to think about. Three NFL guys were the 27th class!
A Later Date
Robert Allen breaks down the three main reasons why the spring football game was pushed back this year.
The recruiting calendar has changed and that is the most critical change and adjustment that needs to be made.
This is the biggest influx of new staff members as Gundy changed defensive coordinators, added the 10th full-time assistant coach, has three new veteran coaches as analysts, a younger coach added as the first-ever special teams analyst, and three new graduate assistant coaches. It is not new, but there are five new mid-year players in the program and three of those figure to have a potential immediate impact.
Allowing Rob Glass and the strength and conditioning staff to have a almost 10 weeks with those new athletes in building up strength, speed, and power will allow them the best chance to have that potential impact and it will allow Glass and his staff more time overall with the entire current squad both in off season and summer workouts combined. [GoPoke$]
While he goes into greater detail – you get the picture: more time – strategic time – to ‘croot, time for staff to gel and elongated winter workouts with Rob Glass.
OSU and NCAA Notes
Really insightful piece on what it would take to clean up college basketball….Rudolph-to-Washington continues in this CBS mock draft….SB Nation lists Gundy as one of the CFB coaches who should try out for Winter Olympics….Obscure sponsorships on uniforms in college football was funny….Bedlam Brothers (Gundy’s) went after Texas A&M assistant on social media
Solid progress on the Eddie movie.
