Pokes get a little shot at Texas Bowl revenge today.

Bullets Rundown

• Chuba + Barry compilation
• Boynton gets a break from Big 12
• Hiring for recruiting

Three Ideas/Thoughts

• 1. I know video isn’t as available (or widespread) of Terry Miller or even Thurman Thomas, both all-timers, but watching Chuba Hubbard and Barry Sanders run are just special things to watch. Having a bad day? Watch these guys run.

• 2. How nice will it be for the Pokes to get out of the Big 12 gauntlet for a Saturday? To scale how different the leagues are, try on these facts.

Although the Big 12 doesn’t seem as deep as usual this season with Iowa State, Kansas State and Oklahoma State all at .500 or below, four of the league’s 10 members are in the Associated Press Top 25: Baylor, Kansas, West Virginia and Texas Tech. The only ranked SEC teams are Kentucky and Auburn. [Yahoo Sports]

• 3. This move by Baylor is something I would love to see Mike Gundy make – a hiring move done exclusively for recruiting purposes.

Two Quotes

• The Big 12 title comes to those who beat Oklahoma – just look at this fact from the 2010s:

The years that Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma State, and Kansas State won Big 12 titles are the same seasons that they beat Oklahoma. 2013 and 2014 for the Bears, 2011 for the Cowboys, and 2012 for the Wildcats. [Concerning Sports]

• See if you can count the amount of irrational and tired observations from CBS’ top reporter in this take on Cowboy Football:

The Cowboys became a factor when Chuba Hubbard announced Monday was returning. The 2,000-yard rusher returns with quarterback Spencer Sanders and WR Tylan Wallace to a form a typical Big 12 team. An offensive juggernaut that will have trouble stopping people. [CBS Sports]

1. Typical Big 12 teams don’t feature two draft picks with day two potential at skill positions and

2. with any level of observation, one would know that it wasn’t OSU’s defense struggling to keep up last year, it was the unusually sluggish offense.

One Question

If you knew 2020 turns out more like 2017 than 2011 – would you rather Chuba and Tylan have gone pro?

Non-OSU Bullets

• This Atlantic piece on writing what we needs to be heard was good
• I love “how to organize” pieces and this ones good. I use Todoist everyday.

This WSJ review of major airlines was surprising – good watch before you plan Spring Break/summer travel.
