Business Decision

Mike Gundy and Co. swiped one of the best recruits out of Arkansas this year – here’s how.

Arkansas, especially new head coach Chad Morris, did make a big push. Hours after he was officially introduced as the Razorbacks’ coach, Morris paid a home visit to (Sean Michael) Flanagan.

“He’s an awesome guy, a great guy,” Flanagan said of Morris. “He sells himself great and does a good job just being a genuine guy. I really liked him, but it was just the wrong timing for me.

“It was really tough. For me, it was kind of success or just kind of going to the dream school that I wanted to play since childhood, but I felt like I would be more successful at Oklahoma State.” [Times Record]

We’ve all been waiting for players to weigh out winning ten games over winning 5.5 games a year for their childhood team. It sounds like the numbers added up for the Pokes to land one of the Natural State’s finest.

Clawing Tooth and Nail

This Cowboy team is showing resilience keeps edging out wins but a quick peek down the road – it’s a tall order to get anywhere near .500.

The rest of the season still doesn’t look all that hopeful but, with a win over Texas, the Pokes saved the season for now. They still have to try and find a way to beat Texas and Iowa State again and for sure beat Kansas State at home in a few weeks. Steal at least one from Baylor (if not both) and you’re sitting at six (seven with a Baylor sweep), they need to find a way to take one from Tech and TCU to try and secure their eighth win.

The way KU is playing, there’s also a chance the Pokes could steal one away from them and also possibly in Morgantown against West Virginia. The way Trae Young is playing, I don’t think the odds are very high at all for a Bedlam win in Stillwater but hey, there’s a chance but more like one in a million. “So, you’re telling me there’s a chance?” Yes Lloyd, but not a great one. [Go Pokes $]

An NIT-bid for a rebuilding team in their first year under a new coach would be a solid starting point – no shame in that. But the tourney odds are somewhere between “one in a million” and a few breaks turning your way if you can squint your eyes enough.

OSU and NCAA Notes

Touching story about Tavarius Shine, OSU basketball, and Texas’ Andrew Jones….Unforgettable moments from 2018 CFB season….We’ll miss Keith Jackson, one of the best voices in college football….When was the last time OSU didn’t have one of the Big 12’s five best QBs?….

Athletics for the win – love that we support a university that does things like this.

Sumlin (stays) in the southwest – great hire for ‘Zona.

Saturday’s W was fantastic – believe it or not I turned it on with 5:55 left (thank me later).

Love the publicity Hofmann continues to draw, his perspective and spirit are an incredible example.

That Crime Dog hammer though…
