High Praise
Bob Huggins had high praise for Mike Boynton’s team after a narrow win at Gallagher Iba last Friday.
During the West Virginia-OSU postgame handshake line, Huggins and Boynton seemed to have a nice exchange.
“(The Cowboys) played really hard, and conceptually, they do some really good stuff,” Huggins said. “I told (Boynton) that he’s doing a heck of a job. I watched them on tape and they’re good. He puts people in position to (succeed).” [TulsaWorld]
Coachspeak doesn’t offer a whole lot of insight at times – but it’s hard to expect a whole lot more out of a new coach than a. players going hard and b. in position to do well.
It’s hard to be down on a rebuilding team that’s a few missed free throws away from beating a top ten team.
Recruiting for Need
Another one of Robert Allen’s predictions for the first two-deep of next fall is a backfield loaded with underclassmen… And not the one you would immediately think of.
CB – A.J. Green, Jr., 6-1, 185, DeSoto, Texas
Tanner McCalister, Fr., 6-2, 190, Rockwall (Heath), Texas
Saf(ety) – Thabo Mwaniki, So., 5-11, 185, Denton (Guyer), Texas
Jason Taylor II, Fr., 6-2, 190, Midwest City (Carl Albert), Okla.
Saf(ety) – Chance Cook, Jr., 6-0, 195, Canadian, Texas
or Malcolm Rodriguez, So., 6-0, 205, Waggoner, Okla.
Sean Michael Flanagan, Fr., 6-2, 210, Charleston, Ark.
CB – Rodarius Williams, So., 6-0, 185, Shreveport (Calvary Baptist), La.
Gabe Lemons, Fr., 6-2, 190, Coppell, Texas
or JayVeon Cardwell, Fr., 6-1, 180, Cibolo (Steele), Texas
Notes: It’s young but I like it. I also want to see all of the players play and play a lot. Notice the entire second line of the depth chart is made up of freshmen and I think they all have a chance to be really good. [GoPokes $]
Freshman at every position! The Pokes loaded up on defensive backs in this class and it’s not hard to tell why – there’s loads of need. How long has it been since there wasn’t a third or fourth-year guy at safety? Pre-Daytwaion Lowe?
Also, call me crazy but special teams ace-turned-rotation player Chance Cook low-key reminds me of old Dallas Cowboy Scott Case from the 90’s.
OSU and NCAA Notes
See where CBS ranked the Camping World Bowl compared to it’s 38 peers….Is Kirby Smart building the next Alabama?….Three things to know about OSU basketball going into Bedlam….Cowgirl post player named league player of the week after K-State and Tech wins….Lindy Waters and Trae Young will do something unusual tonight – they’ll be opponents….Rose Bowl moments that mattered – fodder for conversation with your OU co-worker
Snyder’s officially back for another run.
"As long as I remain in good health and have a positive impact on the young people in our program, I will continue to be the head coach at Kansas State University. Those factors have not changed." -Coach Snyder#EMAW #KStateFB pic.twitter.com/nxKoNCd4dn

If the Pokes can pull it off, it’ll be the first time in a looong time.
Crazy stat at stake for #OKState tomorrow in Bedlam: Oklahoma State has not won consecutive games in Norman since 1964-65.
