Preseason Picks

Yahoo’s Dr. Saturday took a stab at where the Pokes would land in his preseason top 25 – think baker’s dozen.

13. Oklahoma State

We’re putting faith in Mike Gundy’s offensive system with this ranking. Gone are QB Mason Rudolph and WR James Washington, the nation’s top QB/WR combination over the past two seasons. But running back Justice Hill returns and so does wide receiver Jalen McCleskey.

The Big 12 is wide open once again and the Cowboys should be near the top of the conference. The biggest question for the Cowboys may be if Gundy’s mullet makes it to the 2018 season. [Yahoo Sports]

The Mullet made the list! Not only does it function as a solid distraction for quality teams but it apparently can ease the spotlight on a team with questions. The real story is how pundits count on death, taxes and Mike Gundy’s offense reloading.

Sooner-Beating Sunday

The key to the Cowgirls winning Bedlam-part one on Sunday was stellar point guard play from Loryn Goodwin.

But Goodwin was the glue.

And it wasn’t just that she scored a game-high 31 points on a mere 19 shots.

She got to the free-throw line 10 times, making nine of them. She had eight rebounds from the point guard position. She had five assists to only two turnovers despite OU bringing extra defenders to help and hound her whenever it could.

What’s more, she played a full 40 minutes. [NewsOK]

My goodness, those are some numbers. Who’s up for a reverse Juwanna Mann?

Augusta or Bust

OSU has a bonafide stud committed to play golf in the fall of 2019: Dubai native Rayhan Thomas.

Thomas, who also was a semifinalist at last year’s U.S. Junior Amateur, is ranked 19th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. By the time he arrives in Stillwater, that impressive resume is likely to be even more remarkable.

While confident, Thomas is also grounded.

“I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself and put too much pressure (on myself),” Thomas told Livemint, an Indian website. “I’ll just try to play the best golf I can, and if that gets me on to the first tee at the Masters, that’s good.”

And Glenn may want to kick the tires on him filling for Chad Whitener.

OSU and NCAA Notes

Bama beat Georgia in a barn burner….Tramel talks about Bama/Georgia and it’s effect on college football….Rickie Fowler voted best-mannered golfer in 2017….Recap and analysis of game three in Big 12 basketball….This Carl Albert safety looks solid – and it’s worked out for OSU before….Mack Brown is headed to the college football hall

Co-sign on this – more interesting than all but overtime.

No way Gundy knows who Gosling is.

With respect to C.J. and Darius Curry, this pair of Georgia brothers would have been nice.

K-State without a double-digit scorer against the Pokes this week.

We want (South) ‘Bama.

I’d be curious to hear how many years this guy has been making this bet. Poor guy!
