Meet Chad Weiberg
OSU’s deputy athletic director interviewed with The Oklahoman and solid, encouraging details continue to emerge.
Weiberg rose quickly within the K-State athletic department and is credited for building the foundation with donors to construct more than $195 million in new athletic facilities across all sports. Jodi (Weiberg) worked closely alongside her husband during that time, and by 2014, Chad was named National Fundraiser of the Year by the National Association of Athletic Development Directors.
“He has amazing people skills,” Jodi said. “It didn’t take him long to know way more people at K-State than I did.” [NewsOK]
In a list of qualities you want in an athletic director, “amazing people skills” is at the top right next to phone numbers of millionaires that love Oklahoma State.
Shooting Stars
The magnitude of five-star wide receiver Tyron Johnson transferring to Oklahoma State is hard to overstate.
A five-star in the class of 2015, Johnson actually finished ranked as the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver. He saw the field as a freshman at LSU, hauling in nine passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns, but decided to leave following that year because of his desire to play in a more pass-happy offense.
Johnson landed at Oklahoma State, where he sat out 2016 and is expected to be a big part of the high-powered Cowboys offense that already includes talented wide receiver like James Washington, Marcell Ateman and Jalen McCleskey. [Rivals]
Tyron and Oklahoma State should be a perfect marriage.

5’10” feels a little strong for Averette but an undersized guard hammering it down is impressive even if he’s that tall.
He might be 5-10 but @Ba_sosmoove_05 can still ✈️ pic.twitter.com/7wpPsZdi5Z
