Daily Bullets (June 16): That Chuba Tweet and The One That Followed
The Daily Bullets are brought to you by Hoboken Coffee: perfectly roasted in historic Guthrie. Two bags ship free. Order now!
That was the weirdest five hours yesterday between the two Chuba tweets – an uprising with two clearly different camps that was resolved same day.
OSU Bullets
• So Chuba Hubbard tweeted a response to a tweet about Mike Gundy and the shirt he was wearing – implying support for a news station that holds… insensitive views.
I will not stand for this.. This is completely insensitive to everything going on in society, and it’s unacceptable. I will not be doing anything with Oklahoma State until things CHANGE. https://t.co/psxPn4Khoq

• Former and current players responded, as did Mike Holder and Burns Hargis
• Chuba tweeted a video of he and Gundy burying the hatchet while both parties acknowledged separate points
• Most simply, there seem to be two points shaping perspectives: do you believe that Mike Gundy is an arrogant, wealthy jerk who doesn’t care about the culturally marginalized, or are people filling in the blanks and ascribing negative qualities unfairly to him?
Not to assume what Gundy believes about Black Lives Matter — he’s offered little so far about the current events in the country beyond an anodyne statement posted on May 31 — but you can understand that Oklahoma State players who saw the photo of Gundy in an OAN shirt on Twitter might have gotten a little curious. [NewsOK]
•PFB weighed in and brought some light to the situation – this excerpt in particular was helpful in my understanding where Chuba Hubbard is coming from.
Chuba and Amen have both made their voices known on social media about the Black Lives Matter movement, which OAN has not exactly been kind to with its coverage. One of OAN’s hosts has referred to Black Lives Matter as “a criminal organization.” Ogbongbemiga has said that he’s attended at least one protest in Tulsa regarding the death of George Floyd, and Hubbard has spoken out about Floyd’s death as well. [PFB]
It’s reasonable to assume Mike Gundy hasn’t communicated anything overtly offensive to Chuba and his teammates but is wearing a shirt that implies he supports someone who… minimizes their plight.
• Great position-by-position breakdown for the 2021 football recruiting class
• The situation for Oregon State as they prepare for opening in Stillwater against the Pokes
• Sorry I couldn’t find a prettier output – while Tom Herman isn’t the moral outline of what you want your son to be, his comments below resonated. I think this is what Chuba wants to hear from Gundy?

• Father’s Day gift idea – have a celebrity send him a message (no way Jerry from Parks and Rec should be that high)
• This Dallas taco shop looks incredible
