• The Cowgirls rebounded nicely, run-ruling the No. 15 Utah Utes to stave off elimination in OKC last night (NewsOK)

• The Cowboys, on the other hand, were upset in their opening match in the Stillwater Regional by the four-seed ORU Golden Eagles – they fell 6-4 when the comeback bid fell short (PFB)

Next steps – the Cowgirls will play the loser of today’s 3pm game between Tennessee and OU on Sunday night at 7pm while the Pokes have a different path:

OSU now moves to the elimination side of the bracket where it will play again Saturday at 2 p.m. vs. Dallas Baptist, while ORU, the lowest seeded team in the region, moves on to face Washington, the second-lowest seeded team in the region after defeating DBU.

• If OSU’s offensive line stays healthy and Alan Bowman has a serious bounceback, this could be a really fun football season.

No disrespect whatsoever to Kelly Maxwell, but Lexi Kilfoyl’s play down the stretch has been the main reason for the Cowgirls’ success in the NCAA Tournament. Throughout the tournament, Kilfoyl has been the dominant arm in the circle and has been every bit as good as her peer, Kelly Maxwell.
