Three Thoughts

โ€ข The Cowgirls rebounded nicely, run-ruling the No. 15 Utah Utes to stave off elimination in OKC last night (NewsOK)

โ€ข The Cowboys, on the other hand, were upset in their opening match in the Stillwater Regional by the four-seed ORU Golden Eagles – they fell 6-4 when the comeback bid fell short (PFB)

Next steps – the Cowgirls will play the loser of today’s 3pm game between Tennessee and OU on Sunday night at 7pm while the Pokes have a different path:

OSU now moves to the elimination side of the bracket where it will play again Saturday at 2 p.m. vs. Dallas Baptist, while ORU, the lowest seeded team in the region, moves on to face Washington, the second-lowest seeded team in the region after defeating DBU.

[PFB]

โ€ข If OSU’s offensive line stays healthy and Alan Bowman has a serious bounceback, this could be a really fun football season.

Two Quotes

โ€ข Cowgirls ace pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl is the bomb.

No disrespect whatsoever to Kelly Maxwell, but Lexi Kilfoylโ€™s play down the stretch has been the main reason for the Cowgirlsโ€™ success in the NCAA Tournament. Throughout the tournament, Kilfoyl has been the dominant arm in the circle and has been every bit as good as her peer, Kelly Maxwell.

[HCS]

โ€ข The move to rest Kelly Maxwell and save up the Cowgirl’s arms could pay off well.

Understandable. OSUโ€™s staff knows its players well, and Gajewski said Maxwellโ€™s history has not been keen when sheโ€™s had to take long breaks.

One Question

โ€ข Where does this “appetite” wind up for the Big 12?

Non-OSU Bullets

โ€ข Why universities should be more like monasteries
โ€ข Love this take on becoming a “psalmist” (faith-based)
