Bedlam BBQ

The Pokes are headed for Wednesday night basketball in Kansas City… who they’ll play is up in the air but Mark Cooper of the TulsaWorld dug into the 16 possible scenarios still out there.

  • In eight of 16 scenarios, OSU gets matched up with Oklahoma for Bedlam, part three;
  • In five of 16 scenarios, OSU climbs to the No. 7 seed and faces Iowa State;
  • In three scenarios, Oklahoma State will play the Texas team it lost to by one on Saturday.

Based on KenPom.com’s win probabilities, the most likely scenario: Oklahoma State loses to Kansas, Oklahoma beats Iowa State, Baylor loses at Kansas State and Texas loses to West Virginia.

In that scenario? Oklahoma State winds up an 8-seed and gets a date with the Longhorns. [TulsaWorld]

…or with even more simplicity, per Berry Tramel:

OSU’s path is relatively simple, too. Beat Kansas, and the Cowboys are the seventh seed in Kansas City and would play at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday against Iowa State. Lose to Kansas, and the Cowboys are the eighth or ninth seed and would play at 6 p.m. Wednesday against either OU or Texas. [NewsOK]

A friend recently pointed out the identical totals in the Texas-OSU games (65-64), a rubberband game would be fun. Not as fun as OSU getting a shot at busting their rivals bubble though 🙂

Desert Captain

I can get behind this logic of Mason Rudolph going midway through the first round.

15. Arizona Cardinals, QB Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State
Most scouts would consider this a pretty major reach for the Cardinals, but after the early-round run on Darnold, Mayfield, Rosen, Jackson, and Allen, Arizona may not have the option of waiting until the second round to grab itself a quarterback.

Rudolph doesn’t have the arm talent of many of his peers, but has ideal size (6-foot-5, 230 pounds), is an athletic runner on zone-read keepers, was excellent in the face of pressure in 2017, and finished the year with a quarterback rating of 112.2 on third downs, second among all passers in the nation per Pro Football Focus. [The Ringer]

Diminishing supply and increased demand could be Mason Rudolph’s best friend on draft day – which works better in my book. Mid to late first is perfect – you’d rather get away from the teams who need you playing ASAP for a team not in crisis.

OSU and NCAA Notes

Athlon says three of the five Big 12 players to watch in the draft are Pokes ….The Ringers’s Mark Titus had some solid thoughts on college basketball reform….James Washington and Marcel Ateman are two of the top 25 fantasy football rookies to watch….Way too early rank of 2019 Big 12 football recruiting rankings

That 46′ Sugar Bowl would be nice to have up in the office.

A win in Ames has never looked easier.

Sounds like good news for Larry Williams eligibility.

Excited to see how these guys size up against the competition this week.

No pressure, Jimbo.
