Safe Bet

A CBS analyst/Heisman voter that’s killed it picking games this year says OSU over Iowa State (plus the points) is your best bet in the country this week.

Sallee knows Mike Gundy’s squad will be too much for Iowa State to handle. The Cowboys have scored at least 41 points in all but one game this season and have averaged 51 points the past two weeks.

The Cyclones showed some vulnerabilities last week in a 20-16 loss to West Virginia. They’ve also given up at least 24 points three times this season. While their defense is strong by Big 12 standards, it’s still one that Oklahoma State will be able to move the ball against. [CBS Sports]

For a squad that ground out TCU and outpaced OU, that’s pretty strong stuff.

Let’s Make a Deal

In response to some big money donors reaching out on Sunday, Gundy interestingly commented on some of the things he would spend money on if he had it.

Programs everywhere can always use the money. At OSU, Gundy said, he’d like to add a bigger video board inside the stadium; provide an academic center dedicated to just football and basketball at BPS; construct a career center for the athletes; improve air travel for assistants to recruit; among other items. [NewsOK]

I’m all for it but where would you put the jumbotron? Atop the west endzone or somewhere on BPS seems ideal. Maybe one of the open corners. But air travel for assistants could low key have an impact on retaining right?

OSU and NCAA Notes

Why is OU vs. OSU called Bedlam?….On Gundy and Boone making peace, direction of the “progrum”….McMurphy has the Pokes in the Alamo against USC….What should the playoff committee do with Wisconsin?….Is the Big 12 the second-best basketball conference?

Preach it, Gary.

Inattention to detail doesn’t negate speeding or targeting, Leach.

Not quite sure about this ranking system that doesn’t have Baker or Mason but impressed with the play of the Cowboys’ interior linemen.

Better watch what kind of grass you eat in the PNW, Les.

OSU version – camping rights at Sherman Smith practice facility? Players used to sleep at the Atherton or those could be sold for an arm and a leg.
