Title Odds
S&P projects out the odds of who will be in the Big 12 title game – and you probably won’t hate it.
Per S&P+ win probabilities, TCU has a 64 percent chance of finishing 11-1 or better, Oklahoma State has a 24 percent chance, and Oklahoma, with games against both TCU and OSU remaining, has just a 9 percent chance. [SB Nation]
The article goes on to give the following odds for making the title game: TCU an 88 percent chance, OSU a 53 percent chance and OU a 33 percent chance because they have to play the other two still.
Need-to-Win
It’s an exhausting coachspeak phrase but the next game is always the biggest.
After barely escaping Austin with a win last week, Oklahoma State needs this one in Morgantown to keep its College Football Playoff hopes alive. The Cowboys have a three-game stretch with Oklahoma and Iowa State around the corner that will make or break their chance to play for the national title.
On top of that, every game matters with the Big 12 standings so crowded and undefeated TCU leading the way. West Virginia, despite its loss to TCU, is still in the mix with the return of the Big 12 title game. [Yahoo Sports]
When you’ve got big goals, one would suppose everything is a must-win. But that doesn’t diminish the importance of this football brunch in the mountains.
Odds On
The Pokes are seven and a half point favorites today – and ESPN’s gurus say to go orange.
I can see WVU being a fairly trendy home ‘dog, and while I love a good home ‘dog, I just don’t like this matchup for them. Oklahoma State survives the trap before next week’s Bedlam series.
ATS pick: Oklahoma State
Score: Oklahoma State 41, West Virginia 31 [ESPN In$ider]
It’s nice to see the narrative not get too wrapped up in a down week at Texas – but don’t expect that benefit of the doubt if anemic offense becomes a trend. Was it really necessary to make that comment about one of the nation’s most prolific offenses?
OSU and NCAA Notes
Five college football games to watch today (and the Big 12 games)….Texas Governor wants UT-A&M to play each other in football again….Tram looks at West Virginia’s offensive coordinator and his Oklahoma ties…. Is $11m a steal for Nick Saban?….Today is the last chance to make a good first impression on the playoff committee
Worth watching.

Love Iowa State in the league but I’ll believe they’re the greener pasture for football coaching when I see it.

Lots of fans would give this guy Rudolph’s cost of attendance to play for the Pokes.
