Not Sweating It

Cowboy great Zac Robinson had a take on Mason Rudolph while writing for ProFootballFocus.

Rudolph got off to a fast start connecting on a “go” route to Tyron Johnson and a perfectly placed post to James Washington early in the game. He littered the field with touch and well placed timing and rhythm throws outside the numbers throughout. Rudolph was at his best passing under pressure, going 4-of-5 for 176 yards and two touchdowns. [ProFootballFocus]

If Mason can keep doing those two things – hitting on those timing routes and throwing well under pressure – this would definitely project him landing in the “epic season” territory.

According to their grading system, he scored better than all the non-Heismany candidates (Lamar Jackson, Baker).

Ramon Reads

Real talk – Ramon reading the quarterback’s eyes from the start of the play is way better for everyone.

Playing rover in the defensive backfield will allow Richards to be more instinctive, which could translate into him being around the ball frequently when opposing offenses are likely to test OSU’s young cornerbacks as the season progresses.

“I get my opportunities. I get more opportunities to peek into the backfield than I did when I was at corner,” Richards said. “I get my opportunities to look in the backfield and read the quarterback’s eyes and go make plays.” [TulsaWorld]

This is probably the most interesting thing to watch on defense – playing “Where’s Ramon”.

A Perfect Marriage

Reviewing Rivals’ draft board, Mason Rudolph and Oklahoma State were the perfect fit.

Rudolph, a four-star coming out of high school, was a huge kid with a live arm who showed excellent accuracy for a signal-caller who could be tempted to just fire the ball on every throw.

He chose the right offense because he’s a quick decision-maker who is made for a spread, throwing offense where he can put up huge numbers. His size and arm strength as well as quick decision-making could make him a top 10 pick. [Yahoo]

His judicious passing decisions, ability to hit all the right spots down field and outside the hashes and an offense tailor-made to showcase his talents are so perfect.

OSU and NCAA Notes

Solid insights here on South Alabama from TulsaWorld….NCAA basketball coaches hate the new transfer rule idea….Urban Meyer isn’t impressed with his protege’s (Tom Herman) comments about his own players….Conference Power Rankings – OSU over Tulsa is currently the league’s best win

I’d like to be half as excited as Ramon is about just about anything.

Miss Oklahoma representin’.

This is how the academies should do it.

The hardest Cowboy name I’ve heard since maybe Ugo Chinasa but Larry Reece did a fantastic job with it last Saturday.
