The Cowboys have been killing it on the recruiting trail, but a Thursday commitment took things to another gear.
Michael Riles, a four-star edge rusher from Port Arthur, Texas, announced his commitment to Oklahoma State over offers from Florida, Texas A&M, Nebraska, USC and others. Riles becomes the highest-rated defensive commit in the Cowboys’ class, as the 247Sports Composite ranking lists him as the No. 335 player in the 2025 recruiting class, making him the No. 36 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 51 player from the state of Texas.

ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports all list Riles as a four-star prospect, with ESPN ranking him as the No. 293 player in the 2025 class. Rivals lists him as the No. 19 edge rusher in the cycle.
OSU offered Riles back in September and got him on campus for an official visit in April. Riles released a top six in May: OSU, Florida, Nebraska, Texas A&M, UCF and Texas Tech. And the Cowboys were able to win the race to securing Riles’ commitment.
Listed at 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, Riles plays at Memorial High School in Port Arthur, Texas. He played all along the Titans’ defensive line, helping Memorial finish with an 8-3 record and an appearance in the Texas 5A-DI state playoffs. Port Arthur is a city of about 55,000 east of Houston on the gulf shoreline.
Riles’ commitment moves OSU’s class up to No. 23 nationally — edging ahead of Ole Miss and Oregon. It also propelled the Cowboys ahead of West Virginia in the Big 12 rankings up to No. 3 in the conference, trailing only TCU and Arizona State.
Riles is the highest-rated defensive commit in the class, per 247Sports, with the only OSU commit ranked higher being quarterback Adam Schobel. Riles is the seventh scholarship commitment the Cowboys have picked up in the month of June with this month thus far being a big month for defenders. He joins defensive lineman Jordan Covington, defensive lineman Alexander McPherson, linebacker Donovan Jones and safety Ayden Webb as defenders that have picked the Pokes just this month.
