LIVE UPDATES

FINAL: Oklahoma State 14, West Virginia 38

Drive Recap: OSU 14, WVU 38

Rangel took advantage of a free play, finding De’Zhaun Stribling for a 43-yard TD. Too little, too late, but at least it some offense. If nothing else, Rangel is padding his case to be the guy moving forward.

Drive Recap: OSU 7, WVU 38

Nope, it can’t. The Mountaineers used up five minutes, grinding up clock and Lewis Field turf, to pile another TD onto the Pokes.

Drive Recap: OSU 7, WVU 31

The Cowboys punt on fourth-and-9. The first Rangel drive comes up empty. We’ll see if the Cowboys’ defense can keep continue to get stops.

End of the Third: Oklahoma State 7, West Virginia 31

The Cowboys were able to stop the bleeding but unable to put any points on the board themselves. After throwing his second interception (for the third consecutive game), Bowman is benched for Garret Rangel. He enters the game with just under a minute left in the third. First down, Cowboys at their own 39 when the fourth starts.

Drive Recap: OSU 7, WVU 31

Garrett Greene got the first down, then he didn’t when his slide was reviewed. So (technically) OSU’s defense gets its second stop. Rangel time.

Mixed news.

Drive Recap: OSU 7, WVU 31

That drive was a disaster.

Bowman made a couple of plays on that drive, including a 41-yard pass to Da’Wain Lofton, but he was sacked twice and then tried to throw it away on fourth-and-18, but the ball sailed to the sideline where it was picked off by Josiah Trotter.

Drive Recap: OSU 7, WVU 31

The Cowboys get their first stop (OF THE GAME), getting a turnover on downs after WVU attempts a fourth-and-2.

Drive Recap: OSU 7, WVU 31

The Cowboys go three-and-out to start the third quarter, but more importantly, the single pass was a checkdown that saw Ollie Gordon get hit in the knee and go down holding it. Was slow to get up and limped off the field.

Halftime: Oklahoma State 7, West Virginia 31

The Cowboys finally got on the board, but they headed for the tunnel listening to “boos” from the home crowd. WVU ran all over OSU’s defense and appears to be getting stronger as the game goes on. The Pokes have almost been tripled in total yardage and have almost been doubled in time of possession.

Drive Recap: OSU 7, WVU 31

WVU responds with another dominant drive on the ground. The Mountaineers’ YPC numbers are going up with each possession. Up to 7.6 per carry now and have scored four-straight TDs.

Drive Recap: OSU 7, WVU 24

Amid constant booing, Alan Bowman is finally able to sustain a drive with a big pass play to Brennan Presley and then a TD strike to Rashod Owens.

Drive Recap: OSU 0, WVU 24

Greene, Marichiol, doesn’t matter. WVU’s offense is scoring at will.

Drive Recap: OSU 0, WVU 17

Garrett Greene returns to the game and immediately adds more highlight reel runs.

Drive Recap: OSU 0, WVU 17

Cale Cabiness’ 51-yard kickoff return gets the Cowboys in enemy territory for the first time this game. But… Alan Bowman’s second pass attempt of the drive is picked off. There are no longer “boos” coming from the stands. It sounds like “Flores” over the broadcast but waiting for confirmation on that.

Drive Recap: OSU 0, WVU 17

The Mountaineers can move the ball on this defense regardless of who is taking snaps. Nicco Marchiol just ran over Trey Rucker and his team just scored another TD.

End of 1st: Oklahoma State 0, West Virginia 10

The Cowboys have run eight total plays for 16 yards to the Mountaineers’ 20 for 120 (and 10 points). The Cowboys’ scant run success has not been enough to move the chains, especially with -1 passing yards. Third-and-long coming up on the other side.

Drive Recap: OSU 0, WVU 10

Garrett Greene broke loose for 39 yards but then got up holding his shoulder and was helped off the field and then off to the locker room. In comes southpaw Nicco Marchiol who takes over and throws a touchdown with his first pass attempt. Backup QBs will always cause problems for OSU.

Drive Recap: OSU 0, WVU 3

The Cowboys punt on their first possession and boos rained down from the crowd. OSU looked like it was ready to move the ball with Ollie Gordon, but a holding penalty wiped away a first down and the Cowboys ended up stalling out.

Drive Recap: OSU 0, WVU 3

The Mountaineers threatened to go up 7, but the Cowboys’ defense is able to hold them to 3.

West Virginia wasted no time getting down the field on their first possession. The Mountaineers were bolstered by a single 31-yard pass play but they showed the ability to get some push on the ground all the way until they got to the red zone. We’ll see if OSU’s offense can get going on its first drive.

Injury Report: The Cowboys will be without another defensive playmaker on Saturday.

Uni Reveal: The Pokes are going with a winning combo, at least in the uniform department.

The Cowboys need a Big 12 win in the worst way. The only thing worse would be how bad they need one if they come out of this weekend empty handed.

Oklahoma State hosts West Virginia, which is fresh off a bye week, before its own weekend off, hoping to get in the Big 12 win column.

After a 3-0 noncon start, the Cowboys are 0-2 in conference play after a certain amount of consternation about them being picked to finish third in the league around these parts. And that upheaval was not because they were picked too low according to locals. Meanwhile, the Mountaineers are 1-0 in the Big 12 and can take a 2.5-game lead against the Cowboys, and essentially kick them to the back of the line, with a win in Stilly.

It could either be really good or really bad for OSU. But either way, we’ll have something to talk about. Stick around for all your updates, embedded tweets and memes and some half-baked ideas.
