OSU Hoops Offers In-State Standouts Bijan Cortes, Matthew Stone
Boynton dishes offers to two Kingfisher High hoopers.
Stillwater could turn into Kingfisher Northeast before too long.
Mike Boynton offered Kingfisher High standouts Bijan Cortes and Matthew Stone, the pair tweeted out Sunday. Cortes and Stone are both class of 2021 and won a 4A state championship together this past season as sophomores.
Cortes, listed at 6-foot-1, 160 pounds on his recruiting profile, is a shifty guard. Through change of pace, he gets to the rim with frequency. Although he might not be the strongest or jump the highest, he plays composed and looks in control much more often than not. Here are his highlights from last summer.
Stone, too, like to get to the basket. Listed at 6-4, 180, Stone does a nice job fighting through contact and finishing.
Having recently finished their sophomore years in high school, the two probably still have some growing to do, both physically and in their recruiting journeys. OSU is the last DI state school to offer Cortes, as he has offers from Oklahoma, Tulsa and Oral Roberts. Stone boasts a Tulsa offer.
Cortes plays AAU ball with Team Griffin where he is teammates with Jaxson Robinson and Daimion Collins. Robinson and Collins already have OSU offers. Stone plays AAU ball with Oklahoma Run PWP, a program that housed Kalib and Keylan Boone and is where 2020 stud Bryce Thompson plays.
