OSU Target Delrick Abrams Jr. Names OSU in Final 3 Schools; Commitment Coming in July

Junior college defensive back Delrick Abrams Jr. has nailed down his final three schools to Oklahoma State, Colorado and Mississippi State and will make a commitment this July, he announced on Twitter.

Abrams, an Independence Community College sophomore, visited OSU in the spring and said at the time OSU and Colorado were recruiting him the hardest.

As for the visit and the pitch from the OSU coaching staff, Abrams says they see him as a candidate to come in and play at safety to fill a role as a potential Tre Flowers replacement. He is long (6-foot-3), athletic and rangy (runs a 4.51 40-yard dash) who covers like a cornerback and has versatility to play in the secondary—a recruiting trend we’ve seen lately with recruiting under Mike Gundy.

“They want me to play strong safety,” said the 6-foot-3 Abrams. “They said they like long safeties like Tre Flowers, so they see me like another safety like him when my game gets better. So I felt comfortable with that.”

In speaking with Abrams, I get the feeling that his looming decision may not be his final one. He emphasized on more than one occasion he would weigh his options throughout the process despite a planned summer commitment. For now though, I get the feeling OSU and Colorado are the top dogs in his recruitment as it stands, with OSU holding a slight edge.

OSU’s 2018 recruiting class has two commitments at the safety position in Kanion Williams and Jarrick Bernard.
