Daily Bullets (Sept 13) – Boise State’s Power Five Record, Cowboys’ Antidote for a Veteran QB
Big League
Boise State is a Group of Five team that plays Group of Five competition regularly… what’s their track record playing the big boys?
“It’s Boise State vs. Oklahoma State,” said Harsin, whose team plays in Stillwater on Saturday. “The Group of 5, Power 5, I don’t pay attention to that. I think it’s a crock. There’s power programs. That’s how I look at it. That hasn’t even been kind of a thought.”
Boise State is accustomed to playing major-conference opponents, both in the regular season and in bowls. In the previous 10 years, Boise State is 3-0 vs. Oregon; 2-1 vs. both Washington and Oregon State; 1-1 vs. both Washington State and Virginia; 1-0 vs. each of Arizona, Georgia, Arizona State, Virginia Tech; and 0-1 vs. each of Baylor, Ole Miss and Michigan State. 5-1 versus Oregon and Washington is pretty solid for a Northwestern team.
Trench Warfare
While plenty of eyes will be on Taylor Cornelius and the Cowboy offensive line, just as important will be the battle fought by OSU’s defensive line getting to Boise’s veteran quarterback. And Jordan Brailford will be a key player in that narrative.
But if there’s a player with the ability to take Knowles’ defense beyond the line of “just another Big 12 defense,” Brailford might be the guy.
He certainly will have the attention of Boise State’s offensive line and quarterback Brett Rypien when the 17th-ranked Broncos visit Boone Pickens Stadium to face No. 24 Oklahoma State at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
“Obviously, he’s strong. He’s got some weight behind him,” Knowles said of Brailford. “When you can pressure the quarterback with a four-man rush and sometimes a three-man rush, you’ve got a chance to be decent.” [NewsOK]
If OSU can overpower the Boise offensive line by getting, as Knowles mentioned, a solid rush with fewer players, Pokes will stand a good chance of limiting a prolific offense.

"Yeah just change it up a bit so it doesn't look obvious you copied."
