Five-star Prospect Cade Cunningham Commits to Oklahoma State
It happened.
The commitment of five-star Class of 2020 prospect Cade Cunningham was always going to shake the college basketball world no matter how or when he made his decision, but it was still stunning nonetheless. In an Instagram Live on Tuesday night, Cunningham committed to Oklahoma State over Kentucky, Florida, North Carolina and others.
Cunningham is the No. 2 overall recruit in the 2020 class and the No. 1 prospect at the point guard position, giving OSU its highest-rated commitment not only of the 2020 class, but ALSO in program history (since recruiting rankings were tracked in the early aughts).
“This process was stressful for me,” said Cunningham. “When my brother took a job at Oklahoma State, most people assumed my decision had been made for me. But my family encouraged me to explore my options and make my own decisions based on what I feel is best for me.
“I thank God for blessing me with this opportunity and those close to me for their love and support during this journey. I loved all the schools I visited and I appreciate each program investing their time and energy into me. To be honest, I was this close to picking a different school, but blood is always thicker than water. Go Pokes.”
That’s how he ended the video, a shout out and a reference to his older brother Cannen, who was hired this summer to be on Mike Boynton’s staff.

With this commitment to go along with Rondel Walker’s commitment on Halloween, OSU now has the No. 20 class in the nation (with just two players) and the No. 3 class in the Big 12.
Cunningham is expected to visit Stillwater this weekend following Bryce Thompson’s visit on Wednesday. Thompson is another top-20 national recruit who has OSU in his final four and will commit next Tuesday.
Shortly after the commitment, OSU released this hilarious (and well-timed) video of Mike Boynton celebrating the news from Stillwater.
