Four-Star Defensive Lineman Danny Beale III Commits to Oklahoma State

He’s the highest-rated commitment in OSU’s class.

The Cowboys had lost a few commitments over the past week or so, but the new staff bounced back in a big way on Wednesday morning.

Danny Beale III, a 6-foot-4, 300-pound defensive lineman out of Arkansas, announced his commitment to Oklahoma State.

Beale is a consensus four-star prospect who 247Sports lists as the No. 115 player in the class, the No. 18 defensive lineman in the class and the top player from the state of Arkansas.

He chose OSU over offers from Georgia, Florida, Oregon, LSU, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Missouri, North Carolina, Texas A&M and others. Not a bad offer list!

Beale released a Top 8 back in November of Oklahoma, Georgia, Missouri, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Oregon, Mississippi State and USC, but the Cowboys’ new staff must’ve made an impact. He announced an OSU offer on Jan. 9 before taking an official visit to Stillwater in April. He also took visits to Ole Miss, North Carolina and Missouri before picking the Pokes.

His Cross County Thunderbirds went 7-4 this past season, and Beale has played on both sides of the line as a high schooler. Heck, he caught a touchdown pass as a junior.

It very much looks as if OSU is after Beale as a defender, but 247Sports’ Gabe Brooks noted in an evaluation last June that he could project as an offensive lineman, as well. He’s that athletic. Usually when you think 300 pounds, you think interior defensive tackle, but there were times in his high school film that Beale was standing up on the edge.

OSU lost a defensive line commit last week when Jaylen Stewart flipped his commitment to Illinois, and then four-star corner Jason Bradford flipped to TCU. Beale makes up for that in a big way, and the Cowboys aren’t done — defensive line coach Ryan Osborne said as much in a tweet after Beale’s announcement.

According to Kenyatta Wright commitment gifs (welcome to 2025), the Cowboys still have two unannounced pledges still to come.

Beale’s commitment puts the Pokes’ class back up to a dozen, and he becomes the highest-rated prospect in the group. The class was down to No. 66 nationally following last week’s flips, but Beale’s pledge boosts the Pokes back up to No. 56 — leapfrogging three Big 12 foes in the process up to No. 11 in the conference rankings. The 10 programs ahead of OSU in those rankings have on average 16.3 players committed to OSU’s 12, which is why the Cowboys are down a little further than you might expect. But with more commitments coming, I’d expect the Pokes to keep climbing.
